Churches talk a lot about Jesus.
We celebrate his birth. We celebrate his life. We celebrate his resurrection. In the church, the words and actions of Jesus are at the very center of our faith. So, once a year, the church goes on a journey to walk with Jesus from the beginning of his ministry all the way to his death and resurrection. This journey takes place during the season of Lent. Lent is the season of 40 days, not counting Sundays, that leads up to Easter Sunday. During Lent, the church remembers the life of Jesus; and, the people of the church are called to repent of their sins in order to get ready to celebrate Easter. This repentance can include fasting, which means giving something up; or, it can include devoting extra time to your relationship with God; or, it can include both. The idea is to spend 40 days doing things that help you walk closer with Christ. This March will include the beginning of the season of Lent. So, together, we will follow Jesus through the gospel of Luke. We will look closely at the things he says and does, so we can learn how to love God, love our neighbors, and love ourselves. And we will help each other walk in The Footsteps of Jesus.
