We live in a world of brokenness. All across the country, and right here in our own community, families struggle with starvation and malnutrition; single parents struggle to afford clothes for their kids; the elderly struggle to keep up their houses; and good-hearted people struggle with what to do about it.
The brokenness of this world can seem overwhelming if it feels like there’s nothing you can do to make things better. But our mission is to Live Like Jesus, and Jesus challenges us to SERVE. So, this July, we will ask the question: What can we do as a church to heal the broken world we live in?
While we consider this question, I want you to think about all the things that hold you back from serving your neighbors. Maybe there’s a voice in your head that says you believe religion is about faith, not action… Or maybe you feel you should pray for people, but not get involved… Or maybe you would like to help, but just aren’t sure how you can make a difference… Or maybe there is some other reason you don’t want to serve. Whatever your hangups may be, we will work to identify all the voices that discourage us from doing things to make the world a better place; then we will set those voices aside, listen to the calling of the Holy Spirit, and Do Something Anyway.
