2017 is coming to an end.
Like most years, it has been a time of ups and downs, highs and lows, good news and bad news. For much of the year, national politics have dominated the news cycles; but it has also been a year of global events and personal experiences.
While we get ready to end the current calendar year, the church year is already starting anew. Each year, in the month of December, we celebrate the season of Advent. During Advent, we look back on the birth of Jesus; we look for Christ to come to us today in Word and Spirit; and we look ahead to the future completion of God’s Kingdom.
So, come say A Farewell to 2017. And, no matter how you may feel about the news stories of this past year, let’s celebrate the good news that Christ was born!
